First of all, God is the love of my life and secondly I am a homeschooled mom to 2 precious busy boys 7 and 4. And blessed to be married to my dear husband Doug for 8 years.
Hi Lori:
I am a great grandmother who is homeschooling my 7yr old great grandson and working with his almost 5yr old brother. The older one is not always interested in doing school. He is also PDD-nos and very active. He does enjoy doing file folder games so I try to make a big variety of those for him especially in math and language arts. I put velcro on them and he can do them and I can check them later if necessary. He also seems to enjoy using flash cards as much as possible because he can hold them and move them around. He can also choose the ones he wants to answer. Having a choice in what he is doing seems to work with him. We still have days that he doesn't want to work. Another thing we use a lot is a felt board so he can retell a story or make up one of his own. I use color books and many shapes from Little Blots to make characters. Some I just use the paper versions and put a strip of felt on the back but some I have cut apart the individual parts and recut them from felt and glued them together. It takes a lot of time but seems to hold his interest.
