I'm completely new to lapbooking. I heard about it on a different board--just enough to give me a basic idea of what it was. I've just watched some of the tutorial clips, and now I'm hooked. Problem is that I'm rather challenged when it comes to artsy stuff. But anyway, I'm trying to think up ideas for a lapbook about my son (3.5) to send to his grandmothers for Mother's Day. My parents are on the other side of the world, and my in-laws are on the other side of the country. Therefore, they don't get to see the grandkids often. Any suggestions?

Well, some ideas come to mind but I don't know how I'd go about it either! LOL
You must include pictures of your son, obviously, since they don't see him much. You can do an about me section such as current height and weight stats- the kind you get from well visits with the doctor. Then you can do a favorites section with favorite foods, games, clothes, superhero- include pictures of him doing his favorite things. Then have him write a special message to them- he can dictate to you what he wants to say and you can write it or type it and he can color a picture to go with it. You can also include pictures of him with the family pet and with the entire family...other than that I'm not sure what else I'd put in there.

Good idea about the height and weight stats. We could make a growing boy, where the body "grows." Write "Watch me grow!" on it, and write the stats for various ages on the growing boy to see as he gets taller.

Here are some things I've been thinking of. Foods, games, songs, and books he likes. School types of skills, such as "I can read, spell, and trace my name." Samples of writing and coloring. Lots of pictures. We need to include something about his little sisters, too.

Sounds great! Are you making all this stuff on your own or are you finding things online? Because since I read this I've been thinking that this would be a great idea for our grandparents too since they also live far away....hmm..... Either way, be sure to post a picture of your finished lapbook! I'd love to see how it turns out!

I'm doing it on my own. Sure, I'll post pictures of the finished product. I'm about to post some of our 3 lambs who were born during the night!
