I'm going to be creating lots of free lapbooks to put up on our sister site www.LapbookLessons.com

I would like to start a list of requested/suggested books or topics you'd like to see as a lapbook. I can't say that I'll be able to do them all, but it sure would help me out to know what is needed out there!

I'd like each lapbook to have a biblical aspect...this doesn't mean the book has to be about Christianianity or be straight from the bible...... I just want to be able to draw connections from the book, to the bible. (make sense?)

For example, we just did a lapbook on "I Stink" about a garbage truck, but then we drew from it the fact that God put man in charge of the earth, we are to be good stewards, and should keep care of our world.

So if you suggest a book, perhaps you could point out a biblical characteristic that could be drawn from it, or a character trait it encompasses or even a bible story that would go well with it. (Like if you do a lapbook on whales, you could touch on the story of Jonah right!)

Okay, so that said, I'm looking forward to you're responses! Please simply reply to this thread and we'll keep a running list. I'll cross them off as we go.

Right now I'm working on lapbooks for

Stone Soup (showing hospitality)
Owen's Walk (trusting God)
The Kindness Quilt (showing kindness)

Can't wait to hear what you think!

In Christ,

Valerie

Valerie,
I am a special needs homeschool mom with two kids on the autistic spectrum. Here are things I've worked on with my children in the past that would be neat in lapbooks:

A-Z Character issues (would be great to make a supplemental worksheet or mini-book to add to your A-Z Bible lapbooks)

Horses lapbook (with lessons on controlling what we say and how we say it... using verses in James)

I'd also like to see anything you can use to teach flexibility!!! This has been an ongoing struggle for the past 3 years!

Valerie, what other books have you put together? Thanks for what you do. I enjoy your website each day. My daughters will say about your videos "Can I see another one, can I see another one?" Repeat. Boy, we know where God has gifted you sister. I'll be looking forward to your response.

Laura-

I've got all the lapbooks I've put together on www.lapbooklessons.com I really love making them, but they do take a while to put together! I'm hoping to get some creative ideas from everyone in the group to help kickstart the next directions to take with them.

Right now I'm working on a lapbook for the Winnie the Pooh series, and E for Elija and Elisha.

Thanks for all your kind words :)

Valerie

Rachael,

I like the A-Z Character Issues, maybe I'll start a thread and we can all brainstorm what the character traits might be! That would be fun!

Flexibility.....physical? mental? or both....what were you thinking here? you've got my attention, sounds interesting!

(the meme is here http://www.valeries.lapbooklessons.com and you can vote for the March topic in the right hand side bar......right now the Easter/Resurrection Lapbook is winning!)

Valerie,
Did you start the thread on character traits yet? I couldn't find one, so I sat down with a book we're using for me right now called Polished Cornerstones. It's a book for training girls probably 4th grade and up, but the character traits would be biblical. I've made an A-Z list with what I could find from that. (There's also a book for boys called Plants Grown Up. It might have different things for little guys.)
